TenCate acquires US armour maker

TENCATE Aerospace & Armor Composites has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire Composix Co, a US manufacturer of composite armour products. The acquisition will give Dutch group TenCate a bigger presence in the USA – the largest global armour products market – and a strong position in the military vehicle armour sector.

TenCate expects that the final share purchase agreement will be completed by the end of January 2008. The purchase is subject to government approval in the USA.

Composix, based in Newark, Ohio, produces armour products based on fibre reinforced composites and ceramics for the protection of vehicles, aircraft, ships and military personnel. The company currently has annual sales of approximately US$100 million.
