Alcan acquires PET foamable resin technology
ALCAN AIREX, based in Sins, Switzerland, has acquired the patents and know-how for foamable polyethylene terephthalate (PET) technology from the Mossi & Ghisolfi (M&G) Group of Tortona, Italy.
The technology allows for modification of the rheological properties of PET resulting in products suitable to be processed in foaming lines and obtaining PET foam usable in composites, packaging and other industrial markets.
“The acquisition of the patents and know-how for foamable PET technologies from our Italian supplier will allow Alcan to secure the long-term global availability and supply of PET-based materials to all our customers,” said Pierre Monéton, president, Core Materials, Alcan Composites. “Having the exclusive rights to this technology will enable Alcan to continue to innovate in new PET-based core materials for the wind energy, marine and transportation markets worldwide.”
