OC releases sustainability report
OWENS CORNING has released its 2007 Sustainability Report highlighting the company’s progress in making its operations and products greener, and improving the energy efficiency of its buildings. Its overall aim is to look at Owens Corning’s commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship and social progress.
According to the report, the company based in Toledo, Ohio, USA, has already met its 2012 goals for reductions in particulate matter, water and nitrogen oxides, and is on track for energy and waste-to-landfill reductions. However, further improvements are needed throughout the company’s operations to meet the goals for reducing volatile organic compounds (VOCS) and greenhouse gases.
“Sustainability is a core strategy at Owens Corning,” says Mike Thaman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Owens Corning. “We define sustainability as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the world that we leave to the future. This approach to business energises our people, creates growth opportunities for our customers and drives value for our shareholders.”
