Johns Manville adds to portfolio

Johns Manville has added two new products to its portfolio – ThermoFlow® 768 and StarRov® LFTplus 474.

ThermoFlow 768 is a specially developed densified chopped strand for high temperature polymer compounds, such as PPS, PEI and PEEK. It is said to demonstrate superior mechanical performance, thermal and chemical resistance.

According to the Denver, USA-based company, ThermoFlow 768 provides superior matrix bonding and its excellent strand integrity exhibits best-in-class fibre flow resulting in a more effective fibre distribution. A consistent supply of fibres to the extruder leads to more consistent properties in the customer’s end use product. Applications for the chopped strand include throttle bodies, hot water pumps, electrical sensors and power tool parts.

The second product, StarRov LFTplus 474, is for the direct-compounded long fibre thermoplastic (D-LFT) market. The roving has been designed with a unique sizing for use in polypropylene recipes. The company says that it improves the surface finish of coloured applications, combines perfect fibre distribution with excellent mechanical properties, allows a fast process cycle time and generates low fuzz during the D-LFT process.
