SP wins lawsuit against Zoltek

STRUCTURAL POLYMER Group Ltd (SP), now known as Gurit (UK), has won its lawsuit against Zoltek Corp for breach of a supply contract signed in 2000. Zoltek plans to challenge the jury’s verdict.

The lawsuit was filed in February 2005 after SP claimed Zoltek had repeatedly failed to supply it with large filament count carbon fibres. The jury awarded damages of over US$36 million to Gurit, which also asked that Zoltek be ordered to perform the contract for the rest of its term.

The trial was held at the Federal Court in the eastern district of Missouri, USA, and lasted for over three weeks.
