Terephthalic resin hits pultrusion market
REICHHOLD OF Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA, is introducing DION® 31068-00 for the pultrusion market in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
DION 31068-00 is a low-styrene, UV-stabilised, resilient terephthalic resin which is said to have been developed as a performance match to UV-stabilised, resilient isophthalic resin systems. With a styrene level of 30% or less, the low viscosity resin is compliant under California Rules 50 and 1162 and is also direct injection capable. In addition, because the resin is based on terephthalic acid, it should eliminate the cost and supply issues related to the ongoing isophthalic acid shortages.
Applications for the resin include window lineals, ladder rails, tool handles, fan shrouds, utility pole cross-arms and lower end sheet piling/seawalls.
