Quickstep sets up centre in North America
QUICKSTEP Technologies Pty Ltd, developer of the Quickstep composites moulding technology, has established a North American Quickstep Center of Excellence. The centre will be based at the National Composite Center’s (NCC) Dayton Campus for Advanced Materials Technologies (DC-AMT). Quickstep will use the site to demonstrate its composites manufacturing technology to US aerospace and automotive manufacturers.
The centre will incorporate a QS20 composites production machine, which is used in Quickstep’s patented Quickstep Process. The process is a fluid-filled, balanced pressure, heated floating mould technology for the curing, partial curing and joining of composite materials. The company claims that the technology produces composite parts with improved strength, stiffness, surface finish and appearance.
The company has already established two Quickstep centres in alliance with partners in the global composites industry: one in collaboration with the Northwest Composites Centre (NWCC) based in Manchester, UK; and one in Geelong, Australia at the Victorian Centre for Advanced Materials Manufacturing (VCAMM).Quickstep Technologies Pty Ltd; www.quickstep.com.au
