DIAB to open Chinese kit facility

DIAB, core materials manufacturer, is establishing its first kit manufacturing plant in China. The facility will be operational by the end of March 2007 and will be located alongside the company’s existing Kunshan operation.

Asia is the fastest growing market for DIAB’s products, particularly in the marine, wind energy and surface transport sectors.

“The investment in this new facility is further evidence of DIAB’s commitment to the Asia region,” commented Johan Gralen, vice president sales and marketing Asia, Africa and Oceania. “Many of DIAB’s European and North American customers have long enjoyed the tangible benefits that kits bring to businesses. Now DIAB can provide those benefits to our Chinese customers.”

The company has been producing kits for more than 20 years. The kit concept cuts manufacturing times and virtually eliminates scrap as each piece of the kit is pre-cut, shaped to requirements and numbered to fit into place in the mould. Using a kit is also said to reduce labour costs and free up production space.
