Virtek receives US$1.3 million orderVIRTEK VISION International Inc, a provider of industrial laser products for marking, engraving, templating and inspection, has been awarded a US$1.3 million contract to supply its LaserEdge® templating systems to a large, undisclosed US aircraft manufacturer.
Virtek, which is based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, develops laser products used in the manufacture of carbon composite parts for aircraft.
“The new generation of airplanes that we are helping to build will employ a higher percentage of composites than earlier commercial aircraft,” says Stephen J. Sorocky, President and Chief Executive Officer at Virtek. “This large order has already been delivered on time to the customer, bringing the total number of Virtek aerospace systems installed during our fiscal 2009 first quarter to 44.”
According to Virtek, its products can improve quality, reduce costs and boost throughput more than 100%.
